The Story Behind the Numbers.
Sport Insight Report is an English-language magazine exploring the economics of sports betting, the markets in which it operates and the people who use it. We look beneath the headline figures to explain how prices work, what drives a market and what account activity can — and cannot — tell us.
A magazine about betting. Not a betting magazine.
Three perspectives
The Markets explores regulation, competition and the differences between jurisdictions. The Money follows odds, margins and the economics of a transaction. The People examines behaviour, product design and the human consequences behind the numbers.
Our approach
We use publicly available sources and link to the publications behind our reporting. Facts are distinguished from interpretation, and examples are labelled so readers can see what is observed and what is illustrative.
Where mathematics helps explain a story, we show the assumptions and calculations. A modelled return is not a prediction of an individual result. Detailed methods stay beside the examples in each article.
Scope matters. We identify the period, geography and products covered by a dataset, explain important exclusions and avoid treating accounts as unique people. Changes in reporting coverage and incompatible survey methods are considered before comparing figures.
We check that sources support the claims made, acknowledge uncertainty and correct substantiated errors. Material corrections should explain what changed and when.
